Women’s Fitness and Art Retreat
Enjoy a Healthy and Relaxing Retreat in beautiful Shasta County! Your personal fitness motivator and artist, Cheryl Powell, will guide you through a rejuvenating week of local hikes and enjoyable art clinics. Cheryl has over 20 years of experience as a professional artist and athlete. Let her share her enthusiasm for the outdoors and love of nature, to help you find a joyful balance between physical activity, peaceful pursuits and healthy food. Our private homes are located in the lovely Lakeshore Heights neighborhood in the Shasta National Recreation Area. We take our recycling seriously, but we try not to take ourselves too seriously.
Begin your day with optional yoga stretches, work with light free weights, check the news or your e-mail, continental breakfasts and espresso or tea on one of our comfortable decks. Then take in the rugged beauty of the area in the safety of a group hike, (beginner through advanced accommodated - most hikes are intermediate). Spend the late afternoons oil painting, learning to make custom jewelry, getting a massage, soaking in one of the sparkling hot tubs or reading in the quiet of your private room. Your options also include surround-sound stereo systems, high-definition flat-screen satellite television and full computer and internet access. Your healthy meals will be provided along with local wines and organic micro-brew beer. We have deer living in the overgrown lot next door to a huge wilderness area, we’re appreciating the beauty we see everywhere by learning about God’s creations, but we’re not "roughing it".
Shasta County provides plenty of opportunity for guided fishing trips, bike riding, leisurely walks along the lake and tours of the Shasta Caverns. In nearby Redding you can walk across the famous Santiago Calatrava Sundial Bridge and visit the Turtle Bay Museum. The historic town of Dunsmuir, on the way to Mount Shasta 20 miles to the north, has some outstanding restaurants. Lakehead also has its own colorful local pub, The Basshole.
Cheryl and Al West’s lakeshastavacation.com website features the Sun House and Pine House in detail and include: entertainment systems, outdoor cooking and dining, fully equipped kitchens, new towels, sheets and down blankets, large clean outdoor spas, caterers, massage therapists, and office areas with computer and internet access. Your retreat includes gourmet meals, a private room with queen bed and outside door, beginning yoga, guided hiking or skiing and all art supplies. Massages are available by reservation.
